Prohibited or restricted ingredients are often added into functional cosmetics.This kind of cosmetics not only cause damage to the interests and health of consumers，but also disrupt the market order.In this paper，analytical methods and pretreatment techniques for pharmaceutical substances(hormones，antibiotics)，preservatives，sunscreens and other hazardous substances in cosmetics，which could be found in the literature，are reviewed.The applications of the analytical methods，techniques and sample preparation are discussed，and the prospects for the development of cosmetic detection methods are outlooked.
