Abstract:
A high performance liquid chromatographic(HPLC) method was established for the determination of 9 self-heating compounds, including capsaicin in cosmetics. The samples were ultrasonically extracted with 80% methanol, and then filtered. The target compounds were separated on a SymmetryShieldTMRP18(250 mm × 4.6 mm,5 μm) with a mobile phase consisting of acetonitrile and 0.5% formic acid by gradient elution, and analyzed by HPLC with a PDA detector.Under the optimal conditions, good linear relationships were obtained for nine compounds in the concentration range of 0.2-100 μg/mL,with correlation coefficients(r2) not less than 0.999 5.The limits of detection(LODs) were in the range of 0.001 0-0.003 4 mg/kg.The spiked recoveries for water, lotion and cream matrixes at three levels of 0.004,0.02,1 mg/kg ranged from 75.6% to 115%,with relative standard deviations(RSDs,n = 3) of 0.083%-7.0%.This method is accurate and sensitive, and is suitable for the qualitative and quantitative analysis of 9 self-heating compounds in cosmetics.
